The Orange County Fire Authority is a joint powers authority that serves as the all-risk emergency response agency for 1.3 million Orange County residents in 22 cities and the unincorporated areas of the county. Public education, community outreach and civic involvement are key components for OCFA's fire prevention and life safety programs. Each year Community Education Specialists teach fire safety to more than 15,000 fifth-grade students through the popular Junior Firefighter Program. Other programs taught include: fire extinguisher training, CPR classes, earthquake and emergency preparedness, drowning prevention and senior fire safety.
