Description of program

Sierra's Light Foundation is a non-profit group founded in memory of Sierra Beth Soto who was killed at a child care center on May 3rd, 1999. The goal of Sierra's Light Foundation is to provide parents and providers with tools to assess the safety and security of the child care environment by addressing issues that go beyond minimum licensing requirements and accreditation standards. Assessment tools have been compiled utilizing available guidelines and requirements already established and creates awareness by addressing the gaps in those standards. Sierra's Light has provided awareness by speaking at various professional associations, school PTO's and other organizations. In addition, Sierra's Light has provided financial resources to providers to enhance safety and security at their site.
