The Orange County Sheriff's Department and Aliso Viejo Police Services is dedicated to promoting safety for children in and around the home and on the way to and from school. Special events such as assemblies and classroom presentations provide educational material for the students as well as their parents. Bicycle rodeos include mechanical inspection, free helmets to needy families and safety training. Environmental safety for children ranging from child abduction to pedestrian safety to bicycle safety and more are included in a joint effort between the school district, UCI Kiwanis Club, County Health, CHOC, PTAs and other police departments. October has been named as Aliso Viejo Safety Month and will include activities focusing on a different safety issue each week, including pedestrian safety, bicycle safety, DUI prevention, drug abuse, child abduction, and Halloween safety tips.
